At Snow Monster, our story begins with a touch of Taiwan. Our founders, Sébastien Marion and Kai-Yi Wang, bring a piece of their hearts from this island of gastronomic wonder, where a rich tradition of light and fluffy ice creams has captured the hearts of dessert enthusiasts for generations.
Taiwanese ice cream, also known as shaved ice, originated from Japanese influence during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan (1895-1945). Taiwanese vendors added local ingredients and toppings, creating their unique spin on shaved ice. It gained popularity, both in Taiwan and globally, thanks to its diverse and delicious variations.
